Was founded when it became obvious that there was a need for a rescue facility in the Texas Panhandle area. We incorporated in September, 2003, and received our Tax Exempt status from the IRS in January, 2004. In the years since, we have seen feed and hay prices increase drastically, which in turn creates more problems for owners trying to care for their horses. We currently have horses on three different properties, which enables us to group them according to their needs. We exist solely on the support of the people that believe in our mission. We are a completely volunteer organization, and we are always happy to have new volunteers.

Our Mission

The mission of Panhandle Safe Hayven Equine Rescue, Inc. is to save and improve the lives of equines in the Texas Panhandle and surrounding areas by:
1. Educating the public about proper horse care.
2. Offering help to horse owners in times of natural or personal disaster.
3. Rehabilitating abused and neglected equines.
4. Placing equines in approved adoptive homes.
5. Assisting law enforcement in the seizure of abused or neglected animals.

The PSHER provides a haven for mistreated, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules. We also take in horses whose owners can no longer, for whatever reason, care for them properly. In essence, PSHER provides the same services as a humane organization dedicated to house pets, just on a larger scale.
